Install Wine on Ubuntu

Wine 3.11, a new development release of the open-source compatibility layer to allow Windows programs to run on Unix/Linux, was announced a day ago.

Wine 3.11 features:

• More debugger support for Wow64 processes.
• Support for sha256/sha384 hashes in ECDSA signatures.
• Better reporting of hyper-threaded CPUs.
• Improvements to the standard Task Dialog.
• A total of 12 bug fixes.

How to Install Wine 3.11 in Ubuntu:

Wine’s apt repository has made then new release packages for Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 17.10, and Ubuntu 18.04.

Step 1: Add the official wine repository via command:

						sudo apt-add-repository https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/
					

For Linux Mint 18.x, run below command instead to add the repository:

sudo apt-add-repository 'deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ xenial main'

Step 2: Finally update and install the latest Wine development 3.11:

						wget -nc https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/Release.key && sudo apt-key add Release.key
					

Step 3: Download and install the GPG keyring via command:

						sudo apt-get update
						

						sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-devel
					

If you got dependencies issue, install aptitude (sudo apt-get install aptitude) and replace apt-get in last command with aptitude.

- Uninstall:

To remove wine dev release, simply run command in terminal:

						sudo apt-get remove --autoremove winehq-devel
					

And you can remove the repository via Software & Updates utility under Other Software tab.

1. Method 1: Do not let IDM automatically get download links with selected music and video extensions

Open IDM program, click Options, in the dialog box Internet Download Manager Configuration, select the File types tab and delete popular audio and video file formats such as MP3, MP4, FLV, WMA ...

This way you have to re-add the above formats if you want to download music and videos in such formats.

Notes: The popular music extension is MP3, and the popular video extension is MP4, FLV.

2. Method 2: Prevent IDM from automatically catching download links on selected browsers

You open up IDM, Select Options. In the General tab of the Internet Download Manager Configuration dialog box, under 'Capture downloads from the folowing browses:' you uncheck the name of the browser you don't want IDM to "catch" the download link.

With this way, when you want to download with a browser that has unchecked above, you must go to IDM and re-check that browser under 'Capture downloads from the folowing browses'.

3. Method 3: Do not let IDM automatically start downloading links on selected websites

You open up IDM, select Options. In the dialog box 'Internet Download Manager Configuration -> File typpe' click 'Edit list…'. Then click 'Add' to add the website address that you want IDM to not get link automatically.

This way, when you want to load from any page, you have to delete the link you added here, quite manually.
